The Product
Currently, most orthopedic casts are formed from outdated technology which uses 160-year-old plaster of Paris or 50-year-old fiberglass methods to form bulky, cumbersome, uncomfortable casts which expose the patients skin to breakdown causing ulcers and infection. Exosseus’ orthopedic immobilization device utilizes an innovative modern method of additive manufacturing which uses nonmetallic nylon powder and lasers to produce custom-fit, extremely strong 3D printed cast. Exosseus’ revolutionary method produces casts which are waterproof, hygienic, and lighter than the traditional fiberglass casts. Exosseus’ casts are designed to maximize open-air space to prevent skin problems and provide access for adjunctive therapies.
Exosseus’ process begins with the patient’s x-ray. Upon initiation, Exosseus’ software designs a custom cast, which is printed with precision for each patient. Delivery to the attending physician’s office can be within 48 hours.
